What would you be willing to do for a full-size Skittles® vending machine?

That’s what we asked Skittles loyal fan base on Facebook.

Wrigley created a custom vending machine to give away to their ridiculously large Facebook fan base (14 mil plus!). Through our FB-only promotion, we asked the fans to write in stories, post videos and share photos with their most creative ideas. What we got back was a lot of “Me skydiving out of a plane while defeating Chuck Norris for the hungry kids around the globe.” Creative? Maybe. But the promotion was a huge success and Trale Lewous walked away a winner… Google him for a laugh.

This one’s been fun so far. Kudos to BJ and his design chops. His inspired work is really hitting the mark.

A killer outdoor kitchen is somewhat of a fantasy for me. Who doesn’t picture grilling out with a few drinks by the pool from time to time. I’m definitely not alone on this, but at least for this project we got to do what we do best—bring it to life online.

Sears asked us to design and build a flash experience that would allow them to showcase their high-end outdoor kitchen products on Sears.com.

To do this we built an interactive Outdoor Kitchen designer. Visitors to the site can design and customize they’re perfect outdoor setup, check prices… then send it straight to their shopping cart in time for the lazy days of summer.

In early 2010, Visa ran a promotional program with TD Bank to increase customer debit card usage. Our friends at The Ignition Network took care of the website design and the online fulfillment and asked us at Foothold to create something fun to give the site some interactivity and life. The direction was wide open so we got out our sketchbooks and started drawing.

What we came up with was a clever little flash game you play as a character roaming the aisles of the grocery store. As Jeffy the wiener dog pulls her along, Katy jumps up and grabs her favorite stuff. Each time she does, she stacks up points and is treated to a lovely little message reinforcing the benefits of a Visa/TD Bank Debit Card.

When asked to redesign Sanford’s Maternal Fetal Medical Center website, our number one focus was to remove the stress that new patients encounter early on in their relationship with the practice. Imagine you’ve been told that you have a high-risk pregnancy…trying to figure out your next steps can be confusing and even frightening. A website alone can’t remove all those fears… but it can set clear expectations and answer scary questions.

The original website desperately needed a visual refresh. But the concepts we designed for Sanford were just a part of the greater goal of figuring out Sanford MFMC’s communication strategy. What do these newly diagnosed, expecting moms need most?

Through actual patient interviews and process flow evaluations we concluded that patient satisfaction in this area depends mostly on the perception of two factors:

1) emotional comfort with the practice
2) trust in the technical proficiency of the staff

Armed with this knowledge we set out to align the design, photography and copywriting of the new website to meet these needs.

The demo we put together for the pitch acted as a proof-of-concept for what would eventually be a full destination site. The interactivity and animation we brought to the table was instrumental in helping Whittman Hart win the business.

Microsite Design

What happens if a ninja breaks into your apartment and steals all of your stuff? Is it covered?

Working with Tribal DDB we helped create this flash microsite that let’s users explore a cardboard cut-out world of mishaps, accidents, live music, games, and more.

Twenty-somethings aren’t exactly the poster-children for insurance coverage. State Farm knows this and wanted to grab their attention with this targeted site to fill them in on available products and coverage.

Click around… you never know what’ll happen next. It’ll have you saying “Now What?”

Amusement Park

Imagine you’re a Beanie Baby romping around in a virtual Beanieland… interacting with your Beanie friends, eating Beanie food, and playing Beanie games.

This is the world we lived in for several months helping Ty build an entire online world where kids can meet, learn, and play.

We built amusement parks, animated exploding jelly bean jars and rocket blasts, and built a virtual pachinko machine. It was a ton of fun and a testament to Foothold’s range.
